Veterans Day

Many Virginia institutions including Virginia Legal Aid Society will be closed in honor of Veteran’s Day tomorrow. Below are two items that help us remember why it exists:

  1. Five interesting facts from the Department of Defense: https://www.defense.gov/Explore/Features/story/Article/1675470/5-facts-to-know-about-veterans-day/

  1. A photo of my dad, on the left, and his brother, my uncle, when they were home on leave in 1944. Neither was ever required to serve in combat, but my uncle was part of the U.S. occupation force in Germany after the war. My mother lost a cousin on a bomber than never returned, but we don’t have a photo.
